Regulations and Boiler Efficiency
Becoming more efficient in the way we use energy clearly makes more sense.
Twenty four seven electrical and plumbing services only use A rated boilers which are the most efficient available.
Natural gas costs have risen dramatically over the past few years and look set to continue rising so the benefits of installing an A rated boiler over the less efficient B rated boilers are even greater.
Sedbuk is an acronym for Seasonal Efficiency of a Domestic boiler in the uk. The system was developed under the uk governments energy efficiency best practise programme with the co-operation of boiler manufacturers and provides a basis for comparison of different models of boilers.
Condensing
The term condensing is derived from the creation of condensation within the heat exchanger or flue. In standard efficiency boilers the flue temperature is kept relatively high to avoid this condensation occurring. Hhowever in a high efficiency boiler (condensing boiler) so much of the heat produced in the combustion process is absorbed by the heat exchanger into heating the radiators or hot water that condensation is created and needs to be disposed of to a suitable drain.
Home information Packs
All homes sold from 14th December 2007 will require a Home Information Pack (HIPs).
If a gas appliance is installed or replaced in your property we will send details of this to Corgi who will issue a Certificate that will form part of your Hip report. This certificate provides evidence that the work you have had carried out meets relevant standards
Regulations
All boilers installed must be rated either Band A or Band B.
Other areas that need attention are to the controls. These include,
- Thermostatic radiator valves fitting to radiators
- A room thermostat
Do not worry about meeting these new demands. We identify exactly what is required during the survey and advise what needs doing to meet the regulations.
